Try to Touch Your Toes, You May Have a Heart Problem!

Yoga is an ancient healing and spiritual practice that has been used as a way of relaxation and against numerous health problems for centuries. Some people use it to regulate blood pressure and relieve pain and stress, and others consider it a great way of resolving cardiovascular problems. According to a recent study, yoga can indeed relax the arteries and reduce the risk of numerous cardiovascular disorders including heart attack and stroke.

The study showed that if you can’t bend over and touch your toes, you will probably have problems with your arteries. Luckily, there’s an easy yoga pose known as Paschimottanasana which can help. This pose can improve your flexibility and help you touch your toes, which will make your arteries more flexible. To do the Paschimottanasana pose, sit on the floor and extend your legs, then bend over from the waist and touch your toes.

How does yoga make your arteries more flexible?

The theory behind the pose is that it starts a psychological chain reaction which involves elastin and collagen which can keep your arteries elastic and improve your blood flow. According to one of the lead researchers in the study, Dr. Yamamoto, by making your arteries more elastic, we may be capable to use yoga to relieve age-related arterial stiffness as well as other problems. The scientists that conducted the study now believe that stretching and yoga should be included into your everyday workout regimen in order to keep your cardiovascular system in shape and prevent a variety of ailments.
