4 Foods that Nourish Your Skin

During the summer period, it’s very important to wear hats and sunscreen to protect your head and skin because the UV rays are very dangerous.

There are many measures you can take in order to protect yourself, but it’s also very important to nourish your organism from the inside. You can consume a variety of healthy foods that are full of beneficial compounds which can protect even the most delicate skin and here we’re going to present you 4 of the best ones!

Kidney beans

Beans are very good for our heart even though they are known to cause flatulence. But, did you know that they are also very beneficial for your face?
Kidney beans are abundant in zinc which is a key nutrient for skin health. The human skin renews and regenerates itself constantly. Numerous rejuvenating processes depend on enzymes as well as proteins based on zinc. One symptom of zinc deficiency are skin blemishes. Other types of food which include zinc are oysters, pumpkin seeds, Brazil nuts and ginger.

Sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds are an excellent snack! You can also add them into any ice cream or summer salad in order to protect your skin from the dangerous UV rays. They contain plenty of vitamin E that is very important to use in the fight against the free radicals which are known as damaging to our delicate skin.
There are 2/3 of RDV of vitamin E in only one ounce of these amazing seeds. They also stimulate the production of elastin and collagen. These are fibers which give our skin its structure.
Copper also comprises a great part of these seeds. It helps our skin to produce melanin. This is a pigment protein which gives our skin and color their rich color and also fights against the harmful UV rays.
Other types of foods that are full in copper are: mushrooms, kale, pumpkin seeds, prune and chickpeas.

Pomegranates

Pomegranates are the best fruit since they contain the greatest amount of antioxidants of all. They are full of polyphenols which repair your damaged skin especially if you were out in the sun for a long time. They also contain tannin and anthocyanin which have anti-tumor effects, but they also protect our skin from the dangerous UV rays.
Pomegranates also contain numerous nutrients that are especially beneficial for our skin like copper, potassium, iron, zinc and vitamins C and K. They stimulate our skin to produce cells full of collagen which are called fibroblasts. Other types of food that are rich in antioxidants are: oranges, plums as well as different types of berries.

Chocolate

Don’t get too excited! It’s only the dark chocolate you should eat in abundance! It contains 70% more cocoa than milk chocolate and is abundant in compounds by the name of flavanols. They are very powerful antioxidants that can repair our skin from the inside out and also protect it from the harmful UV rays.
This was also confirmed by a German study. They gave a group of women to drink a beverage rich in flavanol and another group drank a low flavanol drink. Later, the participants were all exposed to UV rays. 12 weeks passed and it was confirmed that the group who drank the beverage rich in flavanol had less skin damage. Their skin was hydrated, dense and their blood flow was increased. Also, the scaling and the roughness of their skin were decreased.
Make sure you know what you eat! White or milk chocolate have a very low content of flavanol. They also contain an abundance of sugar.
Other foods rich in flavanol are: asparagus, onion, spinach and lima beans.
