7 Habits That Cause Belly Fat

We all want to lose at least a little bit of that fat around the waist, but doing it is not so easy as it seems. The fat around the waist is the most difficult type of fat to lose, and requires a lot of time, dedications and sacrifice as well. If you want to lose weight permanently, then you should make major lifestyle changes. Here are 8 habits you need to eliminate from your daily routine if you want to lose weight:

No physical activity

Let’s face the facts – most of us lead a sedentary lifestyle. If you want to lose weight, you need to start moving more. Start with a moderate workout program which will raise your heart rate just enough to break a sweat. Increase the intensity day by day, and aim for 3-5 times of exercising per week in order to accelerate your metabolism and start losing weight.

Too much sugar

Sugar is one of the main culprits for weight gain. The average American consumes 3 pounds of sugar a week, which is a lot. Scientific studies have found a link between high sugar consumption, insulin resistance, diabetes and weight gain. Too much sugar can raise your insulin levels, which, if left untreated, can wreak havoc in your body. If you’re trying to lose weight, you need to ditch your sugar habit.


Too much beer

You know what a beer belly is, right? A beer belly is actually a belly which comes as a result of too much beer and is highly accurate. Beer may be the most popular alcoholic beverage in the world, but that doesn’t mean it’s healthy for you. The drink is essentially nothing more than empty calories, and if you’re drinking it along snacks, you’re risking even greater weight gain.

Eating due to stress

Stress eating is absolutely the worst thing you can do for your health. We often lose track of how much we’re eating when stressed, which can easily add up and make you gain a large amount of weight. Too much stress can raise the levels of the cortisol hormone and eventually make your fat cells larger, which will result in accumulation of fat around the waist.

Eating out of boredom

Eating out of boredom is one of the main culprits for weight gain. If you’re opening the fridge whenever you’re bored and have nothing to do, you’re only going to make yourself bigger. The next time you’re bored or crave something, go for a walk instead of getting a snack. Even when you eat snacks, keep them packaged to a minimum. Make a list of things you like doing and stick to them when you’re bored instead of getting a slice of pizza.

Late eating

One of the main things you’ll need to eliminate when trying to lose weight is late night snacking. Snacking something in the middle of the night won’t allow your digestive system to process food properly, which will result in weight gain. Drink plenty of water during the day, as we’re often actually thirsty when feeling hungry.

Not enough sleep

Not getting much sleep overnight can leave you tired and groggy, and is also responsible for your weight gain. When you don’t sleep properly overnight, the body produces too much of the cortisol hormone, which can make you overeat. In order to prevent gaining even more weight, you need to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep overnight.
